Fary Lochan Distillery Edition Batch #5

Fary Lochan Distillery Edition Batch #5, 6 YO, 46.9 %

Initially matured for three years and four months in a single 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel, then finished for two years and 9 months in a single 1st fill ex-Sauternes wine cask. Released for sale 2022-06-01.

You can still get 20 cl bottles of this whisky from the distillery online at DKK 295.

Nose: Shy and elusive at first. Strawberries and orchard fruits, with a whiff of citrus in the background. With time creamy vanilla and orange zest. Wet clothes straight from the washer. Not in a bad way by any means.

Taste: Medium body. Sugary sweetness mixed with oaky spices and vanilla. Dry-ish in character. The oakiness is more noticeable with more sips.

Finish: Medium long finish. Lighter and sweeter now. Cotton candy and vanilla ice cream. Honey dew lemon and hints of pineapple. Fizzy ginger and pepper.

Comment: Juicy fruit.

Score 85/100
