Glauk 5 YO Blended Whisky

Glauk 5 YO Blended Whisky, 40 %

Glauk is the first, and as far as I know, and only whisky produced in Albania. It's made by the Aquila Group, a company established in 1992 which has since become a market leader in the Albanian alcoholic beverage sector. The Aquila Group distillery spans over 35,000 square meters and offers a wide range of products, including various types of Raki, wines, fruit creams, distillates, and traditional Albanian drinks, with Glauk being one of their notable products.

Nose: The nose opens with rich banana and a refreshing twist of citrus. A backdrop of creamy vanilla adds depth, though a sour undertone develops over time that detracts from the initial harmony.

Taste: Upon tasting, the body is light with a somewhat spicy and dry beginning. A medley of white pepper, cinnamon, ginger, and menthol emerges, accompanied by herbal touches and a surprising hint of aftershave.

Finish: The finish is short, presenting raw alcohol notes and a return of the white pepper and menthol. A perfume note filters in before the distinct Tiger Balm muscle rub character makes a striking appearance.

Comment: In conclusion, this whisky feels immature, lacking the refinement expected of a well-rounded product.
