A ten year old single malt from Gotland Whisky, under their Isle of Lime brand. Matured in a single 200 litre ex-Laphroaig ex-bourbon cask (cask #7), distilled 2012-12-28, and bottled 2023-03-10. Limited to 383 bottles.

“At Gotland Whisky, we call the first eight casks “The first casks”. They were distilled over a period of a couple of months back in 2012 when everything was new and we tried to figure out how the distillery worked.”

The Isle of Lime 2012 10 YO fat nr 7 was released in Sweden on April 24, 2023.

Nose: Light and delicate, with a soft fruitiness. Dominated by vanilla and a hint of wood smoke, it develops medicinal and nutty scents over time.

Taste: Medium to full-bodied, with a character somewhat reminiscent of Laphroaig. Slightly medicinal, with notes of creamy vanilla, fudge, iodine, and a salty sea breeze.

Finish: Medium to long, growing spicier and almost aggressive. Flavors of sweet licorice, creamy vanilla, lime zest, soot, and white pepper emerge.

Comment: A fun whisky, but not what you'd expect from an Isle of Lime. The fruity notes are missing.
