This is another of the releases in the new core range from Jura Distillery, called the Signature Series. The Jura 12 YO has been matured in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels for 12 years and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.

A bottle of the Jura 12 YO will set you back a mere NOK 600 in Norway (10328501), and around GBP 45 in the UK.

Nose: Immediately more approachable and a bit more delicate on the nose than the 10 YO. The smokiness is back on level with the Journey, very light. Vanilla, Bounty chocolate (hints of coconut) and a touch tropical fruits. Nuts.

Taste: Medium body, medium sweetness and creamy mouthfeel. Tropical fruits, black pepper and vanilla lead the way. Still a bit nutty.

Finish: Medium long finish. Black pepper remains, now enhanced by hints of wood smoke and warm ashes.

Comments: A fine dram indeed.
