Here it is then, the fifth and last of the five whiskies in the new Signature Series from Jura Distillery. The Jura 18 YO has been matured for 18 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in Premier Grand Cru Classé Bordeaux barrels (red wine).

You can buy the Jura 18 YO in Norway at NOK 1011 (10329001), and in the UK at around GBP 74.

Nose: Oh, sweetness! This is the candy store on the Isle of Jura. Marshmallows, vanilla ice cream with strawberries and a sprinkling of crushed fruit drops. Serve that with a glass of sweet dessert wine. Subtle hints of smoke in the background.With time a little darker, with notes of cinnamon and toffee added to the bounty of sweetness.

Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with a creamy mouthfeel. No traces of the hard mineral character I used to find in Jura. Lots of red berries, coffee, vanilla and cinnamon sticks. Hints of aniseed.

Finish: Long finish. Turns a little dry with time. Cinnamon, toasted oak and wood smoke. Hints of menthol and green grass towards the end.

Comments: A very nice dram.
