This batch 3 of the KIlkerran Heavily Peated has been matured in 80 % bourbon casks and 20 % sherry casks, and it was released earlier this year.

Nose: Smoky and meaty. Sweet wood smoke mixed with assorted cold cuts. Salty with some ginger. With time I get more and more notes of salami.

Taste: Full bodied, massive, feisty and fiery. More traditional rich, wood smoke and earthy peat now, but on subsequent sips the meatiness shines through. The fruitiness is struggling to break through at all.

Finish: Medium long. Meaty still, but more sweet and fruity now.

Comment: I cannot remember having had such a meaty Kilkerran before.
