Octomore 09.3

Octomore 09.3, 5 YO, 62.9 %

Matured in American oak casks, and made with 100 % Islay Barley from Irene’s Field, Octomore Farm. This is a vintage 2012 release, bottled 2018. Limited to 18000 bottles, and clocking in at a whopping 133 ppm.

Nose: Light and fruity. Lots of vanilla and tropical fruits. It is smoky and peaty for sure, but in a harmonious and pleasant way. With time also hay and dry sawdust. Hints of citrus.

Taste: Full bodied, creamy and rich. Almost buttery in character. White pepper and soot. Peaking out from behind the smokiness I find tropical fruits and sweet ginger. Orange zest.

Finish: Medium long finish. Not a whole lot of further development, but I get more soot mixed with tropical fruits and creamy vanilla. The orange has now morphed into yuzu.

Comment: Yay! Gimme more, gimme more!
