Strathclyde 1990 34 YO Single Grain (Sovereign)

Strathclyde 1990 34 YO Single Grain (Sovereign), 46.3%

An old single grain whisky, distilled at Strathclyde Distillery, and bottled by independent bottler Hunter Laing. Distilled August 1990, matured in refill barrel (cask #HL20243), and bottled October 2024. Limited to 68 bottles, which leads me to suspect this is a partial cask.

The Strathclyde 1990 34 YO Single Grain (Sovereign) will be available to buy in a few days in Norway, at NOK 2600 (19224201).

Nose: Mild oakiness with a creamy, vanilla-laced elegance. Soft orchard fruits provide a delicate sweetness, gradually joined by a refreshing hint of citrus.

Taste: Full-bodied with a touch of spice. Toasted oak and caramel intertwine with citrus and orchard fruits.

Finish: Long finish. Becomes more herbal and dark towards the end.

Comment: Effortless elegance.
