The company behind this blended malt whisky is Minami Alps Wine and Beverage Co. Ltd.

One has to assume the mashbill here is 100 % malted barley. The label states “the blend of the finest and delicate select malt whiskies”. So this is a blended malt, and we can only assume all the component malt whiskies are Japanese, but we do not know for certain. The Tenjaku Pure Malt Whisky can be purchased in Norway at NOK 600 (13516801).

Nose: White pepper and mustard seeds. Softly earthy. Hints of root vegetables straight from the soil. With time a bitter side note makes an appearance.

Taste: Light to medium body. Mainly black and white pepper upfront. Vanilla and honey. Nuts and ginger. Comes across as young and unpolished.

Finish: Short finish. Darker now. Maple syrup, burnt caramel and hints of cough syrup.

Comment: Quite rough around the edges.
