Fary Lochan Peaty Amontillado Batch #01, 11 YO, 54.2%

Distilled 2012-09-15, and initially matured for 10 years in 1st fill ex-bourbon barrels. Then finished for a little over a year in a 2nd fill ex-Islay Amontillado sherry hogshead. Bottled 2024-03-15 and limited to 194 bottles.

Nose: Orchard fruits and smoked meat on the barbecue at first. Chocolate mousse, grape juice and toasted oak.

Taste: Full bodied. Rather spicy initial wave. Fizzy and playful with notes of white pepper, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Green herbs follow.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Greener still - cut grass and more herbs. Notes of white pepper and dirty sugar cubes sneaking up as we approach the landing. Even dirtier and sweeter as we land.

Comment: Huh! Dunno what happened, but I’m ready for another round.
