Pointe Blanche
Pointe Blanche, NAS, 43 %
Pointe Blanche is a French whisky. They have to close to no exposure on the web. The whisky is crafted from selected French malted barley and distilled using traditional methods in the Cognac region. The whisky undergoes double distillation in a Charentais copper still and is aged in both French and American oak barrels.
The aging process is divided into two phases; the whisky first matures in a cellar at the distillery, then the liquid is transferred to Oleron Island, where it finishes aging in old ex-peated whisky barrels.
The Pointe Blanche is available to buy in Norway at NOK 700 (13925501).
Nose: Sugary sweet and fruity at first sniff, with notes of chocolate and toasted oak. Creamy vanilla and a dusting of cocoa powder add depth.
Taste: Medium-bodied yet rather big and attention-grabbing for a 43%. White pepper, ginger, and fizzy notes bring fun and fruitiness. Chocolate and a hint of soot round out the profile.
Finish: Medium-long, with a lighter fruitiness emerging. The sugary light sweetness persists, insistent and persistent.
Comment: Lively and fun. Rock solid!
